Puritan Conference

Why the Puritans, and why now?

For over three decades, the Zambia Annual Reformed Conferences have gathered Christians and their families from across Zambia and other parts of Africa for a week of sustained biblical teaching. Some come from outside the continent as well, and various relevant topics have been handled over the years.

For the 37th annual edition, we turn our attention to the Puritans - those 17th century preachers whose experiential theology, searching preaching, and Christ-centred piety still stir the souls of their readers today.

The Puritan Conferences have been run by the Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary (PRTS) together with Reformation Heritage Books (RHB) in the USA for a few years now. They have decided to take them to the rest of the world, and we have been asked to host the first African conference here in Zambia. What an honour!

This conference brings the rich history, doctrinal teaching, and exemplary lives of the Puritans to us so that we can celebrate one of the greatest eras in church history.

The Puritans saw theology not as an academic exercise, but as that which informed the mind, fed the soul, warmed the heart, and set the will to follow in the way of Christ.

The main preachers will be Dr Joel Beeke, Dr Stephen Yuille, and Mr David Woollin. Our Women's Conference will be handled by Mrs Mary Beeke. Our own pastors will also handle a number of breakout sessions, and the Children's Conference will be led by our Sunday School and children's ministry teachers.

We hope that by the end of this unique conference, we will have the Scriptures opened up for us even as we trace the rich history of Puritanism. Those saints lived courageously, believed with reverential precision, and many of them died boldly for Christ.

Be a part of this rare occasion here in Africa. Expect Reformed preaching that makes much of the grace of God in the gospel, warm fellowship with old and new friends, and book tables stocked with godly Christian reading for all ages.

We pray that we will all go away saying, ‘Didn't our hearts burn as the Scriptures were opened up to us?’ Amen.
